Jill’s Journey with the Rolife Sakura Bonsai
Nov 27,2025 | Rolife Team
If you’re a DIY enthusiast, have you ever wanted to try something new, to spice up your craft world? Learn from Jill and see how she was able to find joy in simple things. In a quiet moment of DIY crafting, she found herself stepping away from her usual build - the Nanci’s study project and turned her attention to the Rolife’s Sakura Bonsai kit.
Her journey and experience packed with flaws and successes are a motivation for those who want to step out of their comfort zone.
Unpacking Promise and Possibility
When she opened the box, she discovered the carefully grouped pieces laid out before her: the wooden boards, sandpaper, and delicate blossoms.

She shared:
“I have an upcoming meetup with fellow Robotime fans here in the Philippines and wanted to check if I can finish this build in 2 hrs. And I have confirmed that it is doable.”
It felt like a gentle shift even in the midst of a busy schedule, and Rolife made it even better. They didn’t leave her to guess. They brought the extras, like the sanding tools, giving Jill the trust she needed in the quality of the kit and confidence that she would create something magical.
Setting the Stage
Now, to the part where it all begins. Jill followed the instructions and started her build with the base of the bonsai tree. She stated that building it was pretty straightforward. However, she made a personal choice, a tweak, that she didn’t regret. She explains:
“For the base of the bonsai, instructions said that the numbers are facing front, but I opted to switch sides because I just don’t want to see the numbers in front. Be careful with the gray boards, they are extra thin.”

The customization mattered as it showed how the kit allows DIY enthusiasts to express their own feelings and aesthetic. Jill noticed potential weak points but took care to make sure she enjoyed her assembly. Indeed, mindful assembly makes a huge difference.
The Tricky Part
As the assembly process reached its peak, Jill encountered a tough section: the green pieces started to chip, that is to say, some of the pieces wouldn’t stay. That wasn’t all: locking the tree in place was also tricky, but she discovered that sanding the edges helped. Let’s hear how she puts it:
“Challenges I faced here is the green pieces keep chipping on me. Once it gets chipped, the flowers won’t stay in place so I need to glue them when that happens. I ended up using almost all of my spare pieces.”

The Glowing Outcome and Heartfelt Display
After sanding, gluing, and encountering a few challenges, there came a beautiful result: a Sakura Tree that reminds crafters of the Sakura season.
“The output is beautiful … I have never seen a sakura tree yet, and I am hoping that someday in the future I will get to see them in person…I am going to display it in our living room so guests can see.”
