Halloween Roleplay & Costumes Ideas: Become the Witch of Your Own Story

Aug 20,2025 | Rolife Team

Halloween is a great time to dress up, whether it’s to go trick or treating with your kids or to go to a spooky party with your friends. Rolife has set up a competition on Instagram to win one of their products by telling them your Halloween costume ideas. The answers have been weird and wonderful. Why not dress up and imagine yourself as a witch in one of these scenes?

Rolife Halloween Giveaway

10 lucky winners with the best costume ideas won a Rolife kit in 2024. Some went for the classics like witches and ghosts, while others got creative, such as dressing up as Baba Yaga. Others ventured into video game and movie-inspired looks like the Regent from Outlast Trials and Lady Dimitrescu's evil daughters from Resident Evil. Film and TV characters were also popular, with favorites including Michael Myers, Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, and Dumbledore in honor of those who passed.

One of the most unique entries came from a person who was planning a zombie-themed party, with friends dressing as different zombie characters and creating a ghastly scene. Another entry was a fan of Rolife who dressed up as a cook in tribute to her first DIY miniature kit, Afternoon Baking Time.

People dressed up as everything from bananas to clowns, vampires, and even the Mona Lisa! No matter the costume, Halloween brings out the imagination in all of us.

Celestia the Potion Witch

The Magic Study is a spooky Halloween miniature house. Why not dress up as a witch and imagine yourself as Celestia the Potion Witch?

This year I’m not just dressing as a witch. I am the witch who owns the Magic Study. My name is Celestia and I like to sit at my workbench with all my magical tools surrounding me. In my cauldron, I mix together herbs and other ingredients to make my potions.

I use all the elements to create my potions. Fire is used for heating them. Water is in the base liquid, while air is in the smoke from the heat and the steam from the potion.

The earth element comes from the herbs, oils, and crystals I use in my potions.

Before I start to make my potions, I light incense sticks to cleanse my space. I like sandalwood, sage, lavender, and peppermint as they purify my study.

When I have added the ingredients to the cauldron and lit the flame below, I stir the potion. For wishes I stir clockwise and to banish evil spirits, I stir the other way.

I love crystals. They hold magical properties and I often put a crystal in my potion when I take it off the flame. Different crystals infuse the liquid with magical properties.

Amethyst enhances psychic powers so I often get other witches putting their orders in for them.

Clear quartz makes the intention of the potion more powerful, while citrine is perfect for success, and rose quartz enhances a love potion.

Some of my potions can be consumed, others I use to anoint customers. Sometimes, I sprinkle a potion onto my hands before performing a spell.

At my desk, ‘lll also study my magical books so that I can perform new spells. There is so much to learn but I love learning new magical tricks.

I also have a crystal ball on my workbench. Many people come to me wanting to learn about their future.

My owl sits close by. He is my familiar and helps me with my magical endeavours, potions, and spells. I named him Hedwig after Harry Potter’s owl.

At midnight on All Hallow’s Eve, I put on my witch’s hat and mount my broomstick so that I can fly in the moonlight with the other witches.

Koko the Spell Librarian, Keeper of Forgotten Spells and Dusty Scrolls

Every night I walk down this haunting alleyway which is lit with an eerie glow. As I head for the Magic House where my library is, all I see are shadows.

What was that that flew in front of me? Was it an owl or was it a witch? Anything is possible along this magic street.

With a big rusty key, I open the door to my library. It is difficult to open and it screeches. I switch on the lamp but the light is dim.

Still I know the library so well that I don’t have any trouble finding my desk. Although I was here yesterday, dust has settled on my desk. I blow it away and take out my ledger with spells borrowed.

At midnight the door creaks open. I look up and see someone wearing a pointed hat and a cloak which she has used to cover her face.. She whispers in my ear and I frown. The spell she wants is an old one and I don’t know if I have it.

I know it's not in any of my spell books so I reluctantly go to my scrolls. They are so dusty and the dust flies everywhere when I take a scroll down.

From the corner of my eye I can see the witch looking through my spell books. I don’t like this. Only I can look through them and then give the spell to the customer.

At last I find the spell the witch wants. I take it to her and she removes her cape from her face for a moment. She is ugly. Her nose is crooked and she has a wart on her chin.

She takes the scroll, gives me  vial, and whispers in my ear. Then, with a puff of smoke she is gone but now a cat sits where she was.

I take a sip from the vial and look in the mirror. Where has all my gray hair gone? I look beautiful. This job is the best but what am I going to do with the cat?

The Wandering Healer

My name’s KIki and I’m the witch who owns the Magic Emporium. Here people come to have a wish granted, for me to predict the future with my crystal ball, and to buy potions, magic books, magic wands, and robes for wizards and witches.

Last night was amazing. At midnight, I was sorting through my potions when I heard the door open. I looked up and gasped.

I knew who it was immediately. Everybody knew of the Wandering Healer but not everybody was lucky enough to meet her.

My mother said that she was centuries old, yet she looked young. She had sparkling blue eyes and long blonde hair. She wore a long flowing white dress and seemed to glide towards me as if walking on air.

Smiling, the Wandering Healer took a vial out of her pocket and gave it to me.

“This will cure all ills,” she said

“What is it?” I stuttered.

“That is my secret to keep. All I can say is that it is a secret herb blend. I want you to sell it in your emporium.”

I wouldn’t normally sell anything I had no knowledge of but this was the Wandering Healer and nobody denied her what she wanted.

“Try it,” she said

I did what she asked and in an instant my sore throat had disappeared. I hadn’t been able to get rid of it with any of my spells or potions.

In a second, a whole box of vials appeared. There were plenty but if this potion was as good as she said, It would sell like hot cakes.

“How can I contact you if I need more?” I asked.

“Don’t worry, I’ll know,” she whispered.

With that she glided out of my emporium. I had to sit down.

For the Wandering Healer to trust anyone with her potions, you had to be someone special.

How had she even heard of me?

I felt honored that I had been chosen. Smiling, I opened the box of vials and started to put them out.
