Rolife Moments: Cathy’s Greenhouse Becomes the Itty-Bitty Potting Shed

Oct 22,2025 | Rolife Team

At Rolife, we believe that every one of our products, whether it is a miniature house, book nook, or 3D wooden puzzle, is an adventure. Not only can you assemble them according to the instructions, but you can also add extra elements to make them personal to you.

Sandi embraced this opportunity when she transformed Cathy’s Flower House into her very own "Itty-Bitty Potting Shed", and it became more than just a project—it became a star at the Monroe County Fair. Here’s her inspiring story.

The Creation Process

“This is my version of Cathy’s greenhouse, which I’ve named the Itty-Bitty Potting Shed.” Sandi shared.

She felt that this was an appropriate name as the shed is filled with lots of bits and pieces for the garden. The name is fun and slips off the tongue. You can imagine it filled with flowers, plants, gardening equipment, and gardening magazines.

“I used all the components that came with the kit, but also added a few personal touches of my own.”

She put down a floor of wooden popsicle sticks, feeling that the wood added to the natural feel surrounding the greenhouse.

The Little Details

“The entire piece is mounted on a piece of Styrofoam that came in a shipping box. I placed it inside a frame and set that on top of a Lazy Susan for easy viewing.”

To make the miniature house stand out, Sandi mounted it on a piece of Styrofoam from a shipping box and then placed it on top of a Lazy Susan. She wanted everyone who came into the room to see it immediately.

“To cover the white Styrofoam, I dabbed on brown and green paint for a more natural look. This was my first time trying something like this, and I think it turned out pretty well!”

The Styrofoam was white, so to continue the natural element, she painted it green and brown, green for grass and brown for soil. She also blended tea leaves and potting soil to make lumps of mud to sit on top of the Styrofoam. What is more natural than mud in your garden after a rainfall?

Sandi has made the setting of the greenhouse as realistic as possible. With the touches she has added, you can imagine that the greenhouse is in a typical garden setting.

Emotional Merit

This was Sandi’s first attempt at making a Rolife miniature house. She felt that it had turned out well, and we agree. Not only did she assemble the kit, but she went a step further, showcasing her creative talents by adding personal touches. Her sense of accomplishment is well-earned.
