Assembly Tips

  1. As we have said, glue and batteries may not be included in international orders. Even if glue is included, you may need to buy more glue and different types. The glue may also dry out on the journey from the factory to your home. You can buy wood glue, eco-glue, E600 Plus glue, or strong glue in craft shops, while batteries are easy to find in many different stores, including supermarkets. If you want to repaint the book nook, you will have to buy paint. Acrylic paint can be found in craft shops.
  2. Most pieces slot into place but where you have to use glue, a bottle with a precision tip applicator is the best thing to use to apply the glue. This is because the parts that need glue are small and delicate.
  3. If you are not that good at painting but want to change the colors, use an acrylic paint pen which is easier to use than a brush.
  4. Read the instructions all the way through before you start so that you have a better idea of how to construct the book nook from the offset.
  5. Test the light bulbs before you start to make sure that they work before assembling the wiring system. To do this you need to remove the covers from the ends of the light bulb wires. Get a button cell battery and touch the end of the black wire to the top and the red wire to the bottom.
  6. Clean the sprues to ensure that the pieces fit together easily. Sandpaper is a good choice when cleaning.
  7. Don’t force the parts together as this could break them.

How to Assemble the Rolife Garden House Book Nook

We’ll now look at how to assemble this book nook, but we will only go into detail for the parts that are harder. You have an excellent instruction book to follow so keep it to hand at all times.

The Beginning of the Assembly Process

Firstly join parts B11 and A1. Attach them to the base, which is the C board. Then erect the stairs according to the instruction book.

After putting a tiny bit of glue on the window in the door, put the glass in. To attach the door handle, use a spot of glue. Slot the door into the holes at the top of the stairs.

Get two A24s and slot one pin next to the door and then slot the drawer in between them. Now have some fun making the accessories for this section of the book nook, such as plants, flowers, and a watering can.

The Back Walls and the Sides

Put the large sticker on the back wall and glue the frame onto it. Repeat this for the frames on the side walls. Attach the back wall and sides to what you have previously made.

Place decorations on the side walls and then attach the front of the blue cabinet, adorning it with stickers. There are more plants and other accessories, such as a pair of wellington boots, in this area, so assemble them and slot them into place. The tiny books have wrap-around sticker and look really cute.

It gets a little more difficult now as you will need to attach the lamp. Take the rod and put the washer on the end, threading it through half way. Now, push the wire all the way through. Then fix the lamp according to the instruction book.

The next step is to make the rocking chair. It isn’t difficult if you follow the instructions. When you have completed it, glue the cushion and put it, together with the blanket, on the rocking chair. The blanket, however is a bit hard so you may want to leave it out or make your own.

The Roof and Outside Frame

Make the ceiling panel and cut the tube to the right size for the wire to go through. Fit the glass side panel and roof and slot into place.

The Rest of the Wiring

Assemble the battery box and place it at the bottom of the Rolife Holiday Garden House. Take the ends of the three black wires, twist them together, and secure them with electric tape. Do the same with the three red wires. The Rolife Holiday Garden House Bok Nok is now completed.

Waste and Sustainability

This is one of Rolife’s best environmentally-friendly products. When it comes to plastic waste, most is recyclable apart from the plastic tray which is a pity as it is large. However, most of the wood and cardboard are recyclable or put into compost.

The Rolife Holiday Garden House Book Nook kit is a very good project for sustainability but not quite 100% yet.

Pros and Cons

When it comes to pros, this book nook is a cute product and a joy to put together. The color scheme is lovely and the accessories are detailed and intricate. The instructions are comprehensive and easy to follow.

There aren’t many cons to this project. However, a downside is that you can’t move the furniture around as it fixes into designated slots. This may not appeal to a creative person who would like to change the look of the book nook. In addition, though not overly difficult, the wiring may be a challenge to someone who has never done this before.
